After a hard workout, a sports session, or a really busy day, it's important to wind down your body and mind so you can rest and relax. This video takes you through some gentle mobility and flexibility work, ending in stretches on the floor, and a body scan to bring your awareness back to your self.
Do this routine when you return home from the gym or a community activity, or you can do this routine back-to-back with any of our other scoliosis-friendly workouts.

    Hello from the UK. I had my back x-rayed in the late 80s when I was a teenager. I was told I had SK and to manage it with some physical activity. I took up tai chi which I didn't get on with. Many years later I took up qigong. I have spent decades 'chasing the pain' and doing lots of things that have likely made my SK worse. It was only a couple of weeks ago that I decided perhaps it might be a good idea to actually research SK. Better late than never, I suppose! I am blessed to have found you, and in Vancouver, a city I remember fondly from a trip in 1985. I have been enjoying these routines immensely. I am writing firstly to thank you for your generosity, and secondly to say that some of the exercises bear a strong resemblance to the qigong forms I practice: The 8 Brocades, The 18 Forms, and Zhan Zhuang.     Is bicycle kick suitable exercise for scoliosis? The toe touch exercise seems like a variation of it? Can we place a towel under our lower back so that it is not completely flat on the floor? Although my pelvis is tilted forward and I was trying to keep my back flat so that it gets into neutral position

    I am 16 years old, I have scoliosis, the doctor made me a belt For scoliosis it is also said to wear for 18 hours, so if I wear a belt for 18 hours and do pull-ups so will my scoliosis be correct ? please answer please.....

      It's difficult to say the potential of correction that your spine has because we need to assess your body and see your X-Rays. Pull-ups are safe for people with scoliosis but they do not specifically address the curve shape. The brace you are wearing may support your spine but again we cannot comment on it since we haven't seen it

      We've found it to be effective for clients with a pelvic shift however it highly depends on your own situation.

    Hey! I just had an X-ray of my whole back (MRI is Aug 11). I have 3 fractures in the thoracic section, arthritis throughout the spine, the start of bone thinning (bone density test thurs) AND what I was born with - thoracic c curve. I won’t start PT at the pain clinic until I have the MRI. All of this is being done at the VA hospital cause I’m a veteran. None of the doctors are specialists. In your expert opinion, Should I request a spine specialist ?

      Pull-ups and push-ups are generally safe for people with scoliosis, you just need to be mindful of your alignment and technique while you're doing those movements.

    I just found out I have spondylolisthesis at L5 on S1, Levoconvex scoliosis, insertional tendonopathy and a mild tear at the gluteal max and min tendons. I've been trying to research which exercises not to do, This here is very helpful for scoliosis but can you tell me which ones I should avoid for all the other things that I have. I'm trying to strengthen what needs to be strengthened to heal.

    I’m here after 6 months of neck problems that gave me vertigo and a pinched nerve in my neck. I am thankful for this video and will be doing this everyday. But I have a question: is that normal for scoliosis to cause vertigo ? I’m so scared to ever feel like that again

      Thanks for watching our channel! That's not a commonly associated symptom of scoliosis, please see a vestibular-trained physiotherapist or specialist who can assess the cause of your vertigo.

      @@TSCConnectthank you so much for your reply. I had vertigo for months and no one could tell me what caused it. Then ended up with a pinched nerve in my neck (that left numbness down my right arm) so I started going to physical therapy for that. It was my PT that suggested the scoliosis in my neck might have been what made my vertigo last so long. 🤷🏼‍♀️ PT does make me feel better I’m just worried that vertigo could ever come back.

      The goal isn't to feel a burn, but rather focus on the positioning and technique for each movement - you'll be exercising muscles whether you feel it or not! :)

    Hello! I have a question. On the marching exercise when I lift my knee to belly button height, something in my hip region on that side clicks every time I lower my leg again and the region feels a bit irritated after a some repetitions. Any ideas what that could be?

      Sometimes a tendon just flips over a bone in the hip - you can try turning your knee a little out to the side. If that doesn't help, then perhaps the clicking is due to something else and may require an assessment by a physiotherapist.

    Hi :) Could you do a standing scoliosis workout with no equipment and no jumping? I like to do workouts when I'm working from home, and standing no equipment no jumping workouts are the best for this purpose. Thank you :)

      Hello! All of our beginner level workouts (light blue banner) have minimal jumping. We try to mix up all of the movements so that each workout has something for everyone. We'll keep this request in mind for the future!

      Our cues ‘keep your back straight’ refer to the sideview, instead of rounding/curling your trunk forward. We encourage hip hinging to tilt the trunk forward without bending the spine, and so that’s why we use that cue. Of course we understand you can’t straighten your spine from the back view. We can try to think of something else if you feel that’s confusing.

      Sure! Give it a try. Your chosen weight depends on your fitness level and how hard you want the workout to be, but start with 1-2 kilos or 3-4 pound ones, then go heavier if it's too easy :)

    I really want to thank you and all of the team behind this channel, you've helped me manage my scoliosis in unimaginable ways for this to be free "content" on RUclips. I'm 28 and I've been diagnosed with scoliosis when i was a pre-teen, as i got older it got worse and the pain that comes with it even for standing still for too long has always prevented me from doing lots of activities and accepting more physically demanding jobs I knew I couldn't hold. I've seen physiotherapists and alike but the only thing that actually helped was individual pilates lessons with reformer and cadillac, but I couldn't really keep that up economically. Building muscle to support my spine has always been a nightmare since I know I can't "trust" your regular gym PTs, so this kind of information will be really useful to keep under my belt when future me decides to get a gym membership for real 😅 Thank you again!

    Hard exercises BUT THEIR ARE GREAT!! I had some difficulties dringend some of the exercises! Will do it everytime so that my muscels get stronger!! Thank you!!❤❤😊
